AIESEC teach marketing skill to students


AIESEC (Association Internationale des Etudiants en Sciences Economiques et Commerciales) teach marketing skills to students. Related to that, on Saturday (26/11) a marketing training entitled "Indonesian and Global Trend Need You, Young Marketer" is held. The event, held in Hotel UB, is attended by student representatives from various universities in East Java and Yogyakarta.

In his presentation "What You Can Get from Campus to Become Marketing Professional", Djanalis Djanaid stressed that the ability of a business is decided by marketing skill. According to him, marketing has several functions, such as merchandising, buying, selling, branding/standardization, storage and ware housing, transportation, finance, communication, and risk taking. To be a professional marketer, he convey the importance of special skill such as mastery of concept, art in the concept implementation, good mental attitude, and negotiation skill. Furthermore he specifically described the negotiation skill that should be possessed by a marketer. For the success of negotiation, he advised three strategy; time strategy, communication strategy, and message technique strategy.

Marketing theory is also explained by speaker from PT. Marketing Komunikasi Indonesia, Ardantya Syahreza. According to Ardantya, the core of marketing is about understanding what the people needs. "Marketing is the effort to understand market prospect in creating products and services with added value", he said. The process covers segmenting, targeting and positioning statement.

Testimonials and success story of marketing is then presented by two speakers from PT. Bogasari Flour Mills, Tbk and PT. Astra International, Tbk. Interviewed by PRASETYA Online, head of committee Karisma K. Viranata said that the training is aimed to improve marketing potentials of the youth generation to be young marketers. For the students, according to her, marketing skill is not only needed when working. By aiming for fresh graduate, she also expects that the participants at least able to market themselves when applying for works. [nok]
